By booking through GoGallivanting™, you (“the owner or renter”) agree to the following terms regarding cancellations and refunds.

1. Payment

• The full hire amount is charged at the time of booking.

• GoGallivanting™ deducts 15% commission (inc VAT) automatically at source, with the remaining funds released to the owner within 24 hours of the hire start date.

• These terms apply to all bookings and are referenced in both owner and renter cancellation policies.

2. Security Deposits

• A GoGallivanting™ security deposit pre-authorisation is placed 7 days before the hire start date.
• The amount of the security deposit is set by the owner of the listing and displayed clearly at checkout.
• Deposits can be either owner-managed (held and released directly by the owner) or GoGallivanting™-managed (pre-authorised and released automatically through the platform’s Stripe payment system).

GoGallivanting™ Managed Deposits

• For GoGallivanting™ managed deposits, the hold is automatically released within 48 hours after the hire completes if no communication is received from the owner.
• Where an owner submits a GoTime™ Form within that period confirming any deductions (e.g. damage, fuel, late return, cleaning), the corresponding amount may be retained or charged accordingly.

Owner-Managed Deposits

• For owner-managed listings, the deposit is handled outside of GoGallivanting’s control.
• Refunds, deductions, and dispute resolution in these cases are entirely the responsibility of the owner and are not governed by GoGallivanting’s platform terms. Renters are encouraged to clarify the deposit process directly with the owner before completing their booking.

General Notes

• Refundable security deposits are entirely separate from booking fees.
• The pre-authorisation is not a charge — no money leaves your account unless damage, loss, or other deductions are required.
• If funds are unavailable for pre-authorisation, the booking may be cancelled and any monies already paid (including any non-refundable deposit) will be forfeited.

3. Cancellation Policies

Each listing has one of three cancellation policies chosen by the owner: Fair, Moderate, or Strict. The applicable policy will be shown on the listing and at checkout before you confirm your booking.

Important:

• Refunds to the renter are determined by the listing’s Fair, Moderate, Strict policy and are calculated on the hire amount (security deposit is a separate hold and is not part of the refund calculation).

Strict

• Cancel 30+ days before hire start: 75% refund
• Cancel 20–30 days before hire start: 50% refund
• Cancel <20 days before hire start: no refund

Moderate

• Cancel 14+ days before hire start: 75% refund
• Cancel 5–14 days before hire start: 50% refund
• Cancel <5 days before hire start: no refund

Fair

• Cancel 7+ days before hire start: 75% refund
• Cancel 5–7 days before hire start: 50% refund
• Cancel <5 days before hire start: no refund

4. Owner‑Initiated Cancellations

If a booking is cancelled by the vehicle owner, GoGallivanting™ will:

• Facilitate a full refund to the renter.
• Alternatively, offer assistance in sourcing a similar vehicle, subject to availability.

5. Extenuating Circumstances

In rare and exceptional cases, GoGallivanting™ may, at its sole discretion, consider issuing a refund or partial credit if:

• The vehicle is not roadworthy or fails to meet listing standards upon collection.
• The booking cannot proceed due to a verified and unavoidable event beyond the renter’s control (e.g. government travel restrictions).

Any request for extenuating circumstances consideration must be submitted in writing to support@go-gallivanting.co.uk within 48 hours of cancellation.
