These Terms of Service (“Terms”) outline the rules and expectations for users (“you”, “your”) accessing or using our platform at https://go-gallivanting.co.uk (“the Site”), operated by GoGallivanting™ (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account and using our services, you agree to comply with these terms.
1. Who we are
GoGallivanting™ is a UK-based motorhome and campervan rental portal connecting owners with renters. We act both as a third‑party facilitator and as a direct provider of rental vehicles. While most listings are owned by independent hosts, some are operated and managed by GoGallivanting Ltd directly.
2. Account Registration
To list a vehicle or make a booking, all users must register an account. You are responsible for maintaining accurate personal details and securing your login credentials. You are responsible for maintaining accurate personal details and securing your login credentials.
3. How the Platform Works
- Owners list their vehicles, upload required documentation, and set availability.
- Renters browse listings and request bookings.
- Communication and payment are handled via the platform using Stripe for secure transactions.
- GoGallivanting™ collects a booking fee and retains a commission from each rental.
4. Payments & Deposits
All payments are processed through Stripe.
Booking payments
- At the time of booking, the renter pays the full balance of the booking value.**
- This amount is immediately transferred to the owner, with GoGallivanting’s commission deducted at source.
Security deposits
- Renters must ensure they have sufficient funds available for the security deposit 7 days before the hire start date.
- The deposit is taken as a pre-authorisation on the renter’s card (not a charge). A different card may be used for the deposit than was used for the booking.
- If pre-authorisation cannot be completed due to insufficient funds or card issues, the booking will be cancelled and the renter will be refunded in line with the cancellation policy that applied at the time of booking.
Platform-handled security deposits
- Where GoGallivanting™ manages the deposit, pre-authorisation is placed on the renter’s card and automatically released 48 hours after the hire ends if no issues are reported.
- Owners must raise any disputes within this 48-hour period using the GoTime™ renter contract. If no dispute is raised, the deposit is automatically refunded and no further claims may be made.
Owner-handled security deposits
- Available only to multiple-vehicle owners with a verified self-drive hire insurance policy.
- The deposit amount will be displayed on the listing and at checkout.
- In these cases, the owner will arrange, hold, and refund the deposit directly with the renter in accordance with their own insurance policy and terms.
GoGallivanting™ will not act as deposit holder in these cases.
Payouts
- Owners receive their payout within 24 hours of the hire handover being marked complete, provided no issues or disputes are reported.
- Platform service fees and commissions are automatically deducted prior to payout.
5. Cancellations & Refunds
All bookings made through GoGallivanting™ are subject to one of three cancellation policy options chosen by the owner: Fair, Moderate, or Strict. The applicable policy will be displayed on each listing and shown to the renter before booking.
Fair
- Cancel 7+ days before hire start: 75% refund
- Cancel 5-7 days before hire start: 50% refund
- Cancel <5 days before hire start: no refund
Moderate
- Cancel 14+ days before hire start: 75% refund
- Cancel 5–14 days days before hire start: 50% refund
- Cancel <5 days before hire start: no refund
Strict
- Cancel 30+ days before hire start: 75% refund
- Cancel 20–30 days before hire start: 50% refund
- Cancel <20 days before hire start: no refund
Notes
- Refunds are not available in the event of vehicle breakdown — renters should rely on their own travel insurance.
- Owners who cancel confirmed bookings may face account suspension or removal.
6. Owner Responsibilities
Owners must:
- Upload valid proof of ownership (V5), insurance, and MOT for each vehicle listed.
- For multiple vehicle owners, provide insurance policy documentation covering the fleet.
- Keep vehicles clean, roadworthy, and in good mechanical condition.
- Communicate promptly and professionally with renters.
- Address any issues or disputes that arise during or after the hire period.
7. Vehicle Verification (MOT & V5)
- GoGallivanting™ uses a DVLA API to automatically check MOT status when a number plate is entered during onboarding.
- For V5 verification, GoGallivanting™ uses a third-party paid API to validate the vehicle’s registered keeper details.
- MOT and V5 verification must be successfully completed before a listing can go live.
- If documents expire during a live listing period, the listing will be paused and temporarily hidden until updated.
8. Renter Responsibilities
Renters must:
- Be over 25 years old (for insurance eligibility).
- Hold a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle rented.
- Follow all rules and terms set by the vehicle owner.
- Return the vehicle in the same condition it was handed over, or risk forfeiture of the deposit.
9. Handover & GoTime™ Contract
- All hires use the GoTime™ renter contract, which sets out the agreed responsibilities for both owner and renter.
- At handover and return, both parties are responsible for diligently reviewing the vehicle’s condition. Any existing damage or issues should be flagged and documented before the rental begins.
- The GoTime™ form must be completed before and after the hire, including image uploads to record the vehicle’s condition. This protects both parties, helps avoid unnecessary disputes, and serves as the official record in the event of a claim.
10. Maximum Booking Duration
- Bookings made through GoGallivanting™ are limited to a maximum of 30 days.
- If you wish to make a booking that exceeds 30 days, please contact us at booking@go-gallivanting.co.uk so that we can liaise with the owner directly.
- For bookings over 30 days, the security deposit will be charged and held by GoGallivanting™ and refunded manually at the end of the hire (within 48 hours, provided no issues or disputes are raised). For bookings under 30 days, the deposit is taken as a pre-authorisation in line with our standard process.
11. Dispute Resolution and Liability
- Disputes over condition, cleanliness, or damage must first be addressed directly between the owner and renter using the GoTime™ contract as the agreed framework.
- GoGallivanting™ may mediate disputes but will not act as the deposit holder for owner-handled deposits.
- GoGallivanting™ is not liable for any accidents, breakdowns, or disagreements between users.
12. Account Suspension and Removal
We reserve the right to suspend or remove any user account or listing that:
- Breaches these Terms
- Misrepresents a vehicle
- Engages in abusive, fraudulent, or unsafe behaviour
- Poses a risk to the integrity or safety of the platform
13. Legal Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the UK courts.
14. Data Collection and Privacy
We collect and process personal data for account management and booking facilitation. This includes:
- Names
- Contact details
- Payment details
- Communication history
Data may be shared with third‑party processors (e.g., Stripe, Mailchimp) in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
15. Updates to Terms
GoGallivanting™ may update these Terms from time to time. Users will be notified of material changes via email or through the platform. Continued use of our services after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
